Mission Statement

The mission of the State of California’s Board of Pilot Commissioners for the Bays of San Francisco, San Pablo, Suisun, and Monterey is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient navigation of vessels in and out of these regions by licensing, regulating, and overseeing accomplished maritime pilots. The Board is committed to protecting the public interest, the environment, and maritime commerce through rigorous standards of training, accountability, and professional conduct.
