Mission Statement:
The mission of the Pilot Safety Committee is to enhance navigational and pilot safety on the pilotage ground within the Board’s jurisdiction. The Committee shall develop recommendations to the Board of Pilot Commissioners based on:
- Identifying risks in pilotage and potential mitigating strategies.
- Reviewing USCG and NTSB recommendations to pilot organizations and proposing responses.
- Providing advice to the Board on other safety matters as may be assigned.
The Committee will engage appropriate stakeholders, including the U.S. Coast Guard and the Harbor Safety Committee of San Francisco Bay. Committee meetings will be open to the public. Notices, agendas, and minutes will be posted on the Board’s website, www.bopc.ca.gov. Public comments are encouraged.
